This is my latest purchase, and one my kids are LOVING. It combines the fun of play-doh with the yumminess of cookies and gives kids all the creative outlets they love. Press Dough is a cookie maker that squeezes cookie dough into a gazillion shapes for awesome cookie designs.
The Press Dough (sounds like “Presto”, get it?) kit comes with creative molds you can use to make cute animal designs, geometric shapes, and tubes you can shape into other designs like rainbows or trucks. You can buy sugar cookie dough from the grocery store or make your own using any recipe you like. Use food coloring to dye the cookie dough in small batches of different colors to make the art (I mean, cookies) even prettier.
Take a look at the Press Dough Facebook Page and their gallery of cookie designs to get a glimpse at what is possible with this unique kit.

If you want to see what started this craziness at my house, watch the video below from YouTube. It’s the same one my kids see every single time they watch TV, and I have to admit the commercial is what hooked me, too.

This is great for moms and dads, too, because the pieces are all dishwasher safe. No hand-washing parts here, guys! The pieces are made of sturdy plastic, so they are safe for young bakers too. Just make sure the baking is left to the adults.
Press Dough is great because it combines several skills that are unique to child development. First of all, it encourages creativity with various shapes and colors. Second, it offers tactile stimulation as children shape and mold the dough. Third, if children help make homemade dough, it helps them learn important skills like measuring and pouring, as well as how to follow a recipe. Press Dough is a teaching toy!
Press Dough is great for the whole family. Use it to bring together children of different ages, as well as parents, for a whole-family activity with delicious results.

I just wanted to add my 2 cents to Shawn’s review since I’m the one who actually does this with the kids
The infomercial says you can use store-bought cookie dough. When we tried that, it was way to sticky and the cookies wouldn’t release from the shapes. I added a bunch of flour and that helped. Another tip is to dip the molds into flour before you squeeze the dough into them. If that still doesn’t work, skip the cookie press part and just use the molds like you would regular cookie cutters…roll out the dough, press the mold into the dough, remove the extra dough around the edges, and lift the mold off. It’s much simpler. Finally, before you cook the cookies, but the sheet of raw cookies in the refrigerator and let them get cool, because it helps them keep their shape better while they bake, so they don’t end up looking like blobs of nothing once they’re done.
